Lakeshore Church Missions

Happenings:

  • Summer Mission Trip - This summer Lakeshore is sponsoring it's first ever mission trip.  We have 24 individuals who will be going to Pine Ridge, South Dakota from July 14- 21, through a local organization called Next Step Ministries.  On our trip we will be working to help rebuild the

Sioux Reservation.  This stretch of land, marks the place of many a tragic tale in America's history.  As a result, the people of the Sioux tribe continue to struggle with issues such as extreme poverty, unemployment, and drug and alcohol abuse.  The living conditions are dismal, but there is great hope!  While in South Dakota, we will have an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to the families and children, who are the true pulse of the reservation.

Opportunities:

  • Mission Trip Support - Even if you did not sign up to go on the mission trip this summer, you can still be a part!  First, we would value your prayers for each member going and those whose lives will be touched by God through us.  We believe God answers prayer, and we are asking you to pray for safety, good health, smooth travel and financial support.  Another way you can be involved is to help provide financial support.  Each team member needs to raise $399 by May 6, 2012 to cover the total cost of the trip.  Would you consider supporting us with a small donation?  If so, please make checks payable to Lakeshore Church and write "Missions" on the memo line and mail it to Lakeshore Church, 3210 Maple Grove Drive, Madison, WI 53719 or drop it in the giving box at church.
  • Missionary Support - Lakeshore Church helps support Ryan and Sarah Schmitz and their 4 children on a monthly basis.  Part of your giving goes to cover this cost.  The Schmitz family have been appointed by Global Partners, which is the mission branch of the Wesleyan Church, to go to Nicaragua.  It is their desire to serve the Nicaraguan church by housing short-term mission teams in order for individuals, families, and communities to learn more about Christ and experience His redemptive power.  They want to build relationships with the Nicaraguans through economic development and athletic ministries with the hope of leading people to Jesus.
